The Karma Sutra

The Kama Sutra, an ancient Indian text written by the scholar Vatsyayana in Sanskrit, is widely regarded as the definitive work on human sexual behavior. Part of this text offers practical advice on sexual matters. The term "Kāma" refers to sensual or sexual pleasure, while "sūtra" translates to guidelines in yoga, with the word itself meaning thread in Sanskrit. Often referred to as the oldest and most significant text in a category known as Kama Shastra, the Kama Sutra was traditionally believed to have been first passed down by Nandi, Shiva's sacred bull and gatekeeper, who was inspired to share his wisdom after overhearing the intimate moments of the divine couple Shiva and Parvati. Nandi then recorded his teachings for the benefit of all mankind.
